Thor Visits Elkhart Schools To Encourage RV Careers

Elkhart, Indiana is being celebrated as one of the country’s most booming economies, thanks to the RV industry based there, by everyone from the President Trump and Vice President to the Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile in Indiana, Thor Industries, one of the largest players on the Elkhart scene, is taking steps to keep the future strong by visiting local schools to foster enthusiastic interest in careers in the RV industry or RV manufacturing. Annisa Blosser, a Thor representative, described the visits as a great opportunity to introduce some of the processes and teamwork that building RV's requires.
Thor Industries visited Northwood Middle School earlier this month to meet with eighth graders, according to a story published on the WSBT22 website. The visit included tours of completed RV's, as well as a miniature RV production line that resulted in small fifth wheel travel trailer models made using LEGOS. Eighth graders took up different spots on the assembly line, some acting as parts suppliers and as supervisors. Students also attended a presentation about what is involved in the industry and about the job possibilities in it. Some told WSBT that they were amazed to learn about all the things that go into making an RV and how important RV manufacturers in Elkhart County, Indiana are to the industry as a whole. “I didn't know that Elkhart County was the capital for RVing in the world. So just knowing that now it’s like an eye opener to like how important these jobs are to people,” said student Emma Martz. Thor plans three more visits to local schools in May.
