The RVIA announces that all RV technician certifications set to expire beginning in 2020 have been extended until December 31, 2020, to allow technicians to get the 24 hours of continued education (up from 20) required to maintain their Level 2 RV Technical Institute certification (previously RVDA/RVIA Certified Technicians).
According to a press release, "Valid certifications as of December 31, 2019 under the RVDA/RVIA Certification Program, were automatically transferred into the new RV Technical Institute program. Registered Technicians were transferred to Level 1 Certified Technicians and do not need to re-certify. The Level 1 Certification is good for life and only requires that technicians check-in on an annual basis." Certified Technicians were transferred to Level 2 Certified Technicians and will need 24 hours of approved continuing education over the past five years to re-certify. The RV Technical Institute website, where technicians will login and record their training and attach their certificates is expected to launch in April 2020.
