The Daily-Tribune, a news outlet in Cartersville, GA, reports on a proposed upscale RV park that developers hope to build in Emerson, along I-75 on the northwest side of the Atlanta region. Estimated to cost $9-$10 million, the resort set on 57 acres along the Etowah River would eventually have 270 RV sites as well as cabins on wheels. Local developers sought a special use permit in December at the first of four hearings required before the Emerson Planning and Zoning Commission. They hope to begin construction in June or July.
Besides being conveniently located for visits to Atlanta, Emerson, GA, is a gateway to the popular Red Top Mountain State Park on Lake Allatoona as well as the Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site. It’s also home to the LakePoint Sporting Community, which claims to be the world’s largest travel sports destination, drawing more than a million athletes and families to compete in tournaments and other sports each year.
“If you look at a million-and-a-half people that are going to visit LakePoint and the hundreds of thousands that travel down to Florida and the people who want to come and watch the Braves or Falcons play, it’s an awesome opportunity for them to bring their RV,” Maury Stead, one of the partners, told the Daily Tribune.
