ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - WNDU, the NBC affiliate in South Bend, IN, reports that some RV manufacturers in the region are adding robots to their workforce to complete menial jobs. Universal Robots, a company headquartered in Denmark with U.S. offices in Ann Arbor, MI, as well as other cities, is in the forefront of this effort, with a new, easy-to-use line of robots capable doing repetitive jobs such as placing a single part or moving one thing after another. The robots, which cost $25,000 to $45,000 each, are supposedly as easy to operate as a smartphone and don't require any maintenance, according to company sources.
"What we're looking to help do is eliminate some of the dull, boring tasks that people don't want to come to work and do every day," Universal Robots Sales Development Manager Andrew Jones told WNDU. “A lot of times you find the return on investment can be 6-8 months." Universal Robots has an online course to teach people how to program and operate their robots. To find out more, visit the Universal Robots website.
