MARQUETTE, Mich. â The Mining Journal reports that the Marquette Planning Commission has approved a request from Mark Curran, owner of Rippling River Resort, to expand his campground and build a new community-style bathhouse. Curran plans to add 20 new electrical sites to the 75 sites currently available at the resort. Some 50 of the sites are full hookups and remain open all year. Rippling River also offers all-season cabins and tent sites, heated bathhouse and an all-season hot tub on the property.
Last fall, the city sold about 20 acres of heavily forested land to Curran, a parcel that is part of the Heartwood Forestland and adjacent to the south trailhead of the Noquemanon Trail Network (NTN). Curran assured the city that he plans to minimize tree removal on the property and is working with NTN to help maintain the trails. Located along M-553, the Rippling River Resort offers year-round recreation from snowshoeing, snowmobiling and skiing on adjacent Marquette Mountain to trout fishing in the award-winning Carp River which runs through the property.
