The Boston Globe reports that the Sippewissett Campground and Cabins in Falmouth, MA, has closed. An estate sale disposed of all the campground’s furniture, appliances, tools and other assets, including items from 13 cabins and the main family house, yard furniture, recreation equipment, and an assortment of trolls and other artwork, as well as the remaining contents of the campground’s gift shop.
The family owned campground, where many families made memories with yearly visits, reportedly closed so the owners could retire. Located on Falmouth’s Shining Sea Bikeway, the 100-site campground provided free shuttles to the beach and the Martha’s Vineyard ferry. Sippewissett closed at the end of the 2018 season, after being open since 1961. Sale of the campground's nearly 13-acre site overlooking Buzzard's Bay is currently listed as pending.
