NPS Phases Out Two-Park Pass At Yellowstone/Grand Teton

The popular two-park $50 pass, good for seven day access to adjacent national parks Yellowstone and Grand Teton, will be phased out on May 31, the National Park Service announced this week. Starting June 1, each park will require a separate entrance of $35 for private vehicles, $30 for motorcycles, and $20 for individuals arriving by foot or bicycle. The passes will be good for seven days each.
According to the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, Yellowstone spokeswoman Linda Veress said removing the joint passes would reduce visitor confusion at park entrances, ease the workload on park staff and create more visible separation between the two parks. “Eliminating the two-park fee schedule improves operational efficiency and recognizes that these parks are managed independently of one another.” The NPS considered raising the joint pass to $60, but decided visitors would be better served by buying an $80 Interagency Annual Pass, providing access to all parks. The June price increase will affect each of the National Park Service’s 117 pay sites. Most will see an increase of $5.
