NHTSA Recall Update For September-October - PART I

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports a wide range of recalls currently underway affecting recreational vehicles and towables by a number of manufacturers. Grand Design RV Recall 910016: 92 2019 Grand Design Reflection travel trailers, models 285BHTS, 287RLTS and 297RSTS. The wires to the 50 amp mini-breaker may be installed incorrectly, leaving the circuit unprotected. Dealers will inspect the 50 amp mini-breaker to make sure that it is wired correctly, re-wiring it as necessary, free of charge. Grand Design customer service: 1-574-825-9679.
Daimler Vans USA Door Lock Recall: 76 2018 Freightliner Sprinter 2500 and 3500 and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles. The right side door latches may have been built with incorrect components, keeping the right-side doors from opening from both inside or outside of the vehicle, when the doors are electronically unlocked. Dealers will inspect and replace the locks if necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 11, 2018. DVUSA customer service: 1-877-762-8267.
Daimler Trucks North America Recall FL-793: 58 2017-2019 FCCC MC motorhome chassis. The primary air line was incorrectly connected to the secondary air pressure gauge and the secondary air line was connected to the primary air pressure gauge, causing failure in the air brake system. Dealers will inspect the air gauge lines for proper connection and correct them as necessary, free of charge. DTNA customer service: 1-800-547-0712.
Forest River Recalls:
· Recall 75-0867: 3,606 2018-2019 Cherokee Alpha Wolf and 2019 Cherokee Arctic Wolf recreational trailers. The awnings may have been mounted with fasteners that are insufficient in length and/or quantity, possibly resulting in the awning arm detaching from the wall. The remedy is still under development. · Recall 49-0891: 26 2019 Forest River Primetime Impression fifth wheels, model MPF3000RLS-49. The side marker lights are incorrectly placed, reducing visibility of the vehicle to other drivers. Dealers will remedy the vehicles, free of charge. Forest River customer service: 1-574-862-1025.
· Recall 51-0893: 1,020 2017 Coachmen Cross Country, 2017-2019 Coachmen Sportscoach and Forest River Berkshire and Legacy and 2017-2018 Forest River Charleston motorhomes built on the Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) chassis. The rear mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM) may have been damaged during manufacturing, possibly resulting in the rear marker lights, brake lights, or turn signals not functioning. Owners will be notified and be sent to FCCC authorized service facilities for free repairs. An interim notification alert owners to the problem went out in October 2018. · Brake Mounting Recall: 1,785 2019 Forest River Flagstaff and Rockwood recreational trailers on which the brake mounting flanges on the torsion axles may be incorrectly oriented, possiblly resulting in premature brake failure. Dealers will replace the axles or hubs, free of charge. Forest River customer service: 1-574-642-2640; Dexter customer service: 1-574-295-7888.
Riverside Travel Trailer Awning Recall: one 2018 Riverside Dream recreational trailer equipped with a Solera Smart Arm Awning. The awning may deploy while moving. A dealer will replace the awning controller, free of charge. Riverside customer service: 1-765-472-3920.
Thor Motor Coach Recall RC000161: 2,854 2013 Thor Ace, Daybreak, Challenger, Windsport, Hurricane, Outlaw, Tuscany, and Palazzo motorhomes may have incorrectly installed windshield wiper systems, causing the wipers to fail during use and reducing driver visibility. Dealers will verify that the windshield wiper system is installed correctly, repairing or replacing the system as needed, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 9, 2018.
