Cornell Chronicle Reports On Outdoor Odyssey Group Rescued An Injured Hiker Thanks To The Training They Received Through Cornell University
William Lowe, a veteran hiker, was rescued by the Outdoor Odyssey group after he slipped and fell, dislocating and breaking his ankle. The group, who happen to be nearby, was called over by one of Lowe's friends. They aided him immediately to keep him warm and dry until the fire department arrived 5 hours later.
As Cornell Chronicle writer Daniel Aloi relates in his article: “I have been long-distance hiking for over 40 years, and I am here to tell you that the COE team saved my life on that trail and displayed determination [to] succeed that was humbling,” said Lowe, 69, an emergency management coordinator and retired U.S. Army colonel from New Jersey.
