News Blip: Meteor Shower At West Virginia State Park
Herald-Dispatch Reports On The Exciting Weekend At Beech Fork State Park, Including A Fishing Contest And The Perseid Meteor Shower Show
Beech Fork State Park in Barboursville, West Virginia held an event August 12th having nationally renowned storyteller Bil Lepp come speak, a fishing contest for the kids and viewing of the Perseid meteor shower. Activities for campers began Friday, the 11th, with a Selfie Scavenger Hunt and ghost stories afterwards near the cabin on the hill. The fishing competition was set to see who could catch the most fish in an hour.
Herald-Dispatch writer Joshua Qualls describes more of the fun-filled day at Beech Fork:"Bil Lepp, nationally renowned storyteller who performs at parks throughout the country and has visited Beech Fork in the past, entertained campers at 8 p.m. Saturday in the activities room at headquarters." The park plans to hold more events like this one to attract people. They will host an eclipse party Aug. 21 at the headquarters building, offering a special "eclipse ice cream" to those who visit the park for the event.
