Garry , turned his 300 horsepower, Ford V8, International Harvester truck into a home on wheels. He first came to the idea of traveling full time after he saw an elderly couple do it. His initial plan was moving and getting an RV, but then he decided to stay near his children in New Zealand and build his own home on wheels.
As Nelson Mail writer Katrina Tikey relates in her article: It's been a labour of love. Over the last 10 years Garry has imagined, designed, wielded and created this home on wheels he proudly calls Hoam. 'Hoam' is lined with sheep's wool for insulation. A modest wood burner assists with warmth during cooler months. It's also used for cooking if the weather impedes using the alfresco kitchen.
