Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park Hosts ‘I Have A Dream’ Message Of Peace Contest

The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park in Atlanta will celebrate the winners of the 26th anniversary of International World Peace Rose Garden’s Inspirational Messages of Peace Contest at a ceremony on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM with keynote speaker Mrs. Arndrea King. The free public ceremony is hosted by the National Park Service. Students from countries around the world submitted poems that promote world peace, reflecting the ideals of the rose garden or an aspect of peace. During the ceremony, the contest winners will read their poems inside the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Thousands of students from around the world have participated in the World Peace Rose Garden Inspirational Message of Peace Contest since its inception in 1993. The winning poems are engraved on individual plaques and placed throughout the rose garden and act as points of inspiration to those that visit the garden. An unveiling ceremony of the engraved messages will take place after the event at the church, at the Rose Peace Garden, located near the Park’s Visitor Center at 450 Auburn Ave, N.E. The 2019 engraved messages will remain on display for visitors to read, reflect and contemplate until May of 2019. For more information visit the website of the MLK,Jr. National Historical Park.
