Mountain Home's City Hall was packed with more than 100 Twin Lakes Area residents on Tuesday night to discuss a proposed parks improvement plan that would include building a combination community/aquatic center. The parks plan includes upgrades or repairs to every park under the City of Mountain Home umbrella in addition to the construction of the community/aquatic center. The turnout for Tuesday night’s public meeting was greater than expected, with more than a dozen attendees standing in the entryway to City Hall. Baxter Bulletin writer, Scott Liles, relays in his article, "The proposed plan carries an estimated $37.2 million construction cost, with the city expected to ask Mountain Home voters to approve a sales tax to support the project. The final number for the plan is still in flux as city officials have not chosen exactly what they want to include or remove in the project." Estimations on constructing the community center and gymnasium portion of the multipurpose facility would cost about $13 million, and constructing the indoor/outdoor water features would cost about $12 million. The various park upgrades would cost roughly $10 million, with the final $2.2 million going towards site improvements like parking lots.To read more on Mountain Home, click here.
