Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announces the waiving of recreation-related fees for visitors to agency-managed public lands during nationally recognized days this year: Saturday, June 8 (National Get Outdoors Day), Sept. 28 (National Public Lands Day), and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day). The Las Cruces Sun News reports that BLM-managed public lands offer a wide array of recreational opportunities, including hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, mountain biking, off-highway vehicle driving, rock climbing, and more.
States will run their own promotion of Great Outdoors Month with events or games that encourage people to get outside and participate. For example, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service and Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection are committed to providing visitors with experiences they will remember. Great Outdoors Month is celebrated across the country each June, highlighting the fun, economic and health benefits of outdoor activity.
