INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Governor of Indiana and the Mayors of Columbus, Greenwood and Indianapolis joined Tom Linebarger, Chairman and CEO of Cummins Inc., at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to announce the company’s plans to increase their facilities along I-65, the so-called “Cummins Corridor.” Cummins’ global headquarters is in Columbus, which will remain the primary North American manufacturing center and corporate hub for its Electrified Power Business. A new office building will be built in Greenwood to serve as a hub for digital and information technology. In Indianapolis, Cummins has renovated space at the Salesforce tower and is expanding its Distribution Business headquarters in downtown Indianapolis. The company currently employs over 10,000 people in Indiana, a number that is expected to increase.
Cummins Inc., today a global power leader producing a wide range of products from diesel and natural gas engines to hybrid and electric platforms, plus related technologies, was founded in Columbus, Indiana, in 1919. “Today is a significant milestone and a day of immense celebration as we commemorate 100 strong years of Cummins operating in the Hoosier state and look forward to 100 more,” Indiana Gov. Holcomb said at the press conference.
