Montana de Oro and Morro Bay parks of the California State Parks system are planning to conduct controlled, pile burns next week. CA State Parks is partnering with Air Pollution Control District, the Morro Bay Fire Department, and CalFire to help conduct the burn. One burn took place Tuesday March 24, and the rest will continue until Tuesday March 31 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
According to a news article on KSBY, the prescribed burns happening in Morro Bay State parks will be located on the Wildland-Urban Interface between Ridgeway Street and Balboa Street. Burn piles in Montana de Oro State park wil be located near Camp KEEP and the environmental camp facilities. Fire crews will be burning approximately 80 brush piles as part of fuel reduction, forest management, and restoration projects.
