Airstream And National Forest Foundation Partner To Reopen Campgrounds

The 154 National Forests and 20 National Grasslands in the U.S. contain some of the country’s most beautiful wildlife and pristine public lands, as well as 5,100 campsites. These facilities, many open to the public for free or at very low cost, were heavily affected by the partial government shutdown, leaving maintenance backlogs on campgrounds, restrooms and roads that must be completed before the National Forest lands can reopen for use.
Airstream has announced a partnership with the National Forest Foundation (NFF) to address this backlog. As part of its Leave It Beautiful program, Airstream will match every dollar raised up to $25,000, with all funds going directly to the NFF to clean up campsites and campground facilities and improve access to roads and trails impacted by the partial shutdown. The National Forest Foundation is chartered by Congress as the official non-profit partner of the United States Forest Service. Last year, Airstream President and CEO Bob Wheeler joined the volunteer Board of Directors of the National Forest Foundation. Thor, Airstream’s parent company, recently made a a $50,000 donation to the foundation.
