PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. -- Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism celebrates the great outdoors with a huge celebration that includes more than 250 free concerts, seminars and outdoor excursions, including 100 new events, several aimed at younger outdoor enthusiasts. The event, now in its 28th year, is headquartered at the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge.

“Wilderness Wildlife Week showcases a diverse range of speakers and experts who share their vast knowledge of life in the Great Smoky Mountains,” said Pigeon Forge Executive Director of Tourism Leon Downey. “From a fishing tournament for kids to an 11-mile hike to Mt. Cammerer, Wilderness Wildlife Week offers something for everyone.” There's so many activities and things to do in Pigeon Forge!

Events will focus on the culture and heritage of the Great Smoky Mountain region, with outdoor demonstrations backcountry and Dutch oven cooking, workshops on basket weaving, photography, fishing, and wildflowers, lectures ranging from women’s role in western frontier living to mountain forensic investigations and ranger recollections of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the 1960s, plus a Great Smoky Mountains Association film series. Several guided hiking excursions are offered each day, including the popular Cades Cove Loop Road Night Hike. All events during Wildlife Week are free and open to the public.
