Recently, Youngsville’s City Council passed an ordinance that enables RV Parks to establish themselves within the city. However, many citizens did not agree with this ordinance and didn’t get the chance to voice their opinion. It all started when John Trahan came up with the plan to develop an RV park on a piece of land he bought back in 2007. A council meeting was supposed to take place before the mayor would pass the ordinance; this did not happen.

“You’ve heard overwhelming response from citizens that we did not want this RV park,” Barras said. “If you knew that this ordinance was coming for a vote tonight, why would you permit him the day the vote was going to take place? I heard you twice said you would not permit before the ordinance was in place.”

Youngsville’s Mayor, Ken Ritter, says recognize that it’s not popular, but I am not a king; I am not a dictator. I was advised that I had no legal basis to deny the permit.”
