SALEM, Ohio - Ohio Parks Director Shane Franks announces his plans for a local park in Salem after the approval from the city Parks Commission to go ahead getting funds for a project that would turn the park into a fitness area.Commission Chair John Panezott said in an article on Salem News, “There are a lot of people that can’t afford to be members of the community and fitness center here. This gives everyone an opportunity to have a good workout. It’s really a complete workout.” The area, which would consist of seven pieces of equipment and a sign, would be free and open to the whole public, including men and women of all ages. Park Foreman Jim Grimm said that the department does recycle Christmas trees, and they will be taken the day after Christmas until Jan. 31. Anyone can brig a tree to Memorial Waterworth Park during that time.
