People Reports On Young Teen From South Carolina That Grows Fresh Vegetables To Feed The Homeless
Young teen from South Carolina, Katie Stagliano, has been inspiring a generation to go further when it comes to giving a helping hand. Katie started growing krops 9 years ago, and realized she could feed the homeless with all that she grows. Now, her organization Katie's Krops, has given over 22,000 pounds of produce to kitchens, families, and food pantries.
As People writer Diane Herbst relates in her article: Katie, now 18 and a high school senior, also began creating monthly dinners six years ago from her crops at a local church after the only soup kitchen in the area, where Katie had made twice-weekly deliveries, closed.“I was extremely worried about all the people who were there,” says Katie, who with the help of classmates feeds 200 people at each dinner.
