ELKHART, Ind. â The Southbend Tribune reports on the over-the-top hospitality being offered to the more than 3,000 dealers attending the annual trade-only RV Dealer Open House in Elkhart. In addition to parties and tents offering top-shelf food and beverages, and lots of giveaways, the top manufacturers have brought in star-quality entertainment to attract dealers to their brands. Thor Industries, displaying 550 new models across more than a dozen brands, is presenting a concert by Keith Urban, while Forest River, the country’s second largest RV maker, will host Styx and Big and Rich on stage.
Darryl Searer, president of the RV/MH Hall of Fame, told the Tribune that the show continues to expand and now includes about 82 suppliers, who are displaying this year in Ingram Hall at the Hall of Fame, in addition to more than 40 RV manufacturers and brands exhibiting outside. Started by Forest River about 12 years ago, the Open House now stretches nearly seven miles from the RV/MH Hall of Fame to the Elkhart County Airport. “The dealers are here to see the manufacturers,” Searer said. “But the suppliers are here to mostly attract the attention of the purchasing agents from the factories.”
