Death Valley National Park will be hosting its Dark Sky Festival from Feb. 21-23. The Dark Sky Fesitival will offer a great amount of programs throughout the day. Some of the programs offered include guided walks through Death Valley with rangers and scientists during the day to a fair at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center and exploring the search for life and other planets at night.8 News Now writer, Carolyn Williams, covers in her article, "Death Valley is one of the best spots for stargazing in the world and was designated a “Gold Tier Dark Sky Park” by the International Dark-Sky Association. This designation is reserved for locations with the highest rating of darkness." Several organizations are involved, including Las Vegas Astronomical Society, Death Valley Natural History Association, and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. Events are free and open to the public, with the exception of the standard $30 park entrance fee per vehicle.
