SANDPOINT, Idaho â The Bonner County Daily Bee reports that the Bonner County Planning & Zoning Commission is proposing land-use code changes that will increase opportunities for RV park development and cancel a policy that prohibits residing in an RV for more than 120 days. The new regulations would allow campgrounds in Agricultural/Forest, Rural and Suburban zones in addition to Commercial, Rural Service Center, Recreation and Alpine Village zones under a revised conditional permit process.
Planning Director Milton Ollerton told the newspaper, “The P&Z Commission was adamant against regulating temporary use of RVs on property,” because the 120-day occupancy limit was essentially unenforceable. Ollerton said that the modified location permit for RVs is only meant to ensure setbacks are observed as RV densities increase and begin to impact neighboring landowners. However the proposed regulations sparked concern among many locals who have launched a petition drive over social media to modify the changes.
