JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - KMTR16, the NBC affiliate in Eugene, Oregon, reports that Winnebago company officials have issued a schedule for layoffs at the company’s Junction City plant and informed state and local officials in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, a 1988 federal law which requires companies to provide advance notification of large layoffs. The AP reported earlier this month that Winnebago will move the production of its Class A diesel motorhomes from Junction City to its Forest City, Iowa, campus.
"Winnebago will permanently close its plant located at 135 E. 1st Avenue, Junction City, OR 97448, between the dates of April 5, 2019, and June 14, 2019," Brian Hazelton, a Winnebago vice president, wrote in the notification. "This closure will involve the entire plant located at that address.” The 250 positions in Junction City will be reduced to about 30 in parts and services while about 175 positions will be added at the Forest City campus.
