FOREST CITY, Iowa -- In a move designed to diversify Winnebago Industries' offerings in the outdoor lifestyle market and to build an additional revenue platform, Michael Happe, Winnebago Industries President and Chief Executive Officer, announced the acquisition of Chris-Craft from Stellican Ltd., which has owned the iconic boat building company since 2001. Happe says his company sees significant intersection between the RV and marine lifestyles with similar customer demographics and significant ownership crossover.
The purchase unites two of the best known and most iconic names in the outdoor recreational industry. Chris-Craft’s brand dates back to 1874, while Winnebago, founded in 1958, is the best known brand in the RV market. “I am delighted that Chris-Craft has found an ideal partner in Winnebago Industries,” Chris-Craft Chairman and Stellican Ltd. Founding Partner, Stephen Julius, said in a press release. “Winnebago is a natural fit for Chris-Craft’s premium brand, with a similarly iconic brand, complementary cultures, and a shared dedication to design, craftsmanship, quality, and customer service.”
