Caravan and Motorhome Club announced the winners of its Certificated Location (CL) of the Year Award at the House of Commons in recognition of the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act (1960) which enables the Caravan and Motorhome Club to grant certificates to landowners to operate CLs. These exclusive campgrounds are privately-owned, maximum five-pitch sites across the UK, open exclusively to Caravan and Motorhome Club members, and are nominated for the annual awards by Club members. This year’s winner was Brunette Cottage located in the Welsh Borders. Cherry Cottage in Dorset took second place and Marylands in Pembrokeshire third. The Best Newcomer award went to Barn Owl Meadow in Suffolk.
The Caravan and Motorhome Club also announced the winners of its annual “Sites in Bloom” Awards, introduced in 2003 by Club Life Member, the late Alan Payne OBE, to recognise the creative and horticultural skills of campsite wardens (caretakers) and volunteers. York Beechwood Grange in York won in the “multiple couple” category, with the Edinburgh Club Site taking second place. Ashridge Farm in Hertfordshire won in the “single couple” category, with the Minehead Club Site in Somerset the runner up.
