Temporary Carlsbad RV Parks In The Making

The Carlsbad Current-Argus reports that Carlsbad City Councilors recently met during a town meeting to continue tackling the city's housing shortage. Councilors agreed to approve two temporary housing permits for nearly 150 new RV spaces. Permittee Susan Crenshaw owns nearly 10 acres of land at 4710 National Parks Highway that will house 31 RVs. City of Carlsbad Planning Director Jeff Patterson said the property is zoned as a commercial district, and rural residential district.
According to the article by Carlsbad Current-Argus writer Mike , Patterson said utility plans are still pending on the property. “Housing is in dire need of an increase, that’s why this is being brought before you tonight,” Patterson said in front of attendees at the Carlsbad City council meeting. Susan Crenshaw informed that work on the RV park will be done in phases and there are still plans to meet with Carlsbad Fire Chief Richard Lopez to go through the final inspection of the area. Another temporary housing permit at 4120 Cowboys Country Road has been approved. Steve Walker owns the property and Jeff Patterson said there would be 143 RV spaces on nearly 45 acres.
