GRANBY, Colo. - The Colorado Sun reports that Sun Communities, the nation’s largest operator of manufactured home communities, is building the River Run Resort in Granby, a town located near the headwaters of the Colorado River, close to Rocky Mountain National Park and resorts such as Winter Park and others along US 40. Plans for the resort include RV sites, rental cabins, for-sale villas and glamping spots surrounding a clubhouse with a swimming pool, bowling alley, bistro, store and fishing ponds as well as an affordable mobile home community that will provide much needed housing for seasonal workers.
The Sun reports that Granby’s mayor, Paul Chavoustie, is a major supporter of the project. “I thought that type of visitor, the RV visitor, would be great for igniting our downtown,” he said in an interview. “A density of 1,000 to 1,100 sites, with two or three people per site, adds a critical mass to really make our downtown something special.” The River Run property is located on the northside of Granby on land bought by the town after a planned high-end golf resort failed.
