RVIA Says New Tariffs Will Affect RV Industry
Editor's Note: This news item was retrieved and first published through RV Industry Association's website.
The RV Industry Association (RVIA) announced that the recently announced “List 4” tariffs on some $300 billion in Chinese goods contains items that could negatively affect the RV industry. The 10 percent tariffs go into effect on September 1, and tweets from President Trump threaten that the amount could increase to 25 percent if no agreement is reached.
The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) compiled a potential list of affected goods, which includes many popular consumer products such as clothes, toys and electronics. The RV Industry Association’s government affairs team has narrowed down the list to items that are used in RV production. Some items on the list have an obvious connection to the RV industry, such as plastic shower baths, washbasins and lavatories. Others are more difficult to imagine as being used to make recreational vehicles… What, for instance, are whole equine skins used for?
You can browse the list assembled by RVIA on its website or read the full list on the Federal Register.
