Roadways Throughout Central Ohio Remain Closed

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Columbus has received a flash flood warning earlier this week as heavy rain filled downtown steers and highways. Numerous other roadways throughout central Ohio remained closed early Thursday due to high water, making the morning commute a challenge. Two separate sections of Interstate 71 in Franklin County have reopened after being closed Wednesday night by flooding following another round of heavy rain over central Ohio.
Jim Woods, of the Columbus Dispatch, relays in this article: "The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for all of Franklin County, as well as sections of Delaware, Licking, Pickaway and Union counties, at least though mid-morning Thursday. A separate flood warning for the Big Darby Creek is in effect until Friday morning."Motorists should be cauthous of flooded areas and never drive into roads where it is completely covered. Rainfall amounts were higher in some places. At about 9:25 p.m. a weather spotter reported to the NWS 1.85 inches of rain had fallen in the past hour at his measuring station five miles north/ northeast of Gahanna.
