ASHBURN, Va. - The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) announced the results of its monthly survey, Park Pulse, which gauges public opinion on topics relating to parks and recreation. This winter 83 percent (8 in 10) people look forward to spending time outdoors. Top outdoor activities this season include visits to local farms for holiday activities such as pumpkin, tree, and holiday decoration picking, and trips to themed events such as holiday parades and light displays.
Thirty-three percent of Americans want to visit the beach this holiday season, while a similar number are looking forward to sledding and playing in the snow at local parks. “Spending time outside is a great way to celebrate the winter season,” Barbara Tulipane, CAE, NRPA president and CEO, said in a press release. “Whether it’s celebrating holidays, relaxing with friends or simply enjoying nature, local park and recreation agencies offer many places to visit and activities to enjoy.”
