NHTSA Recalls Affecting The RV Industry In February

Fisher-Price Recall 19-058: RV recalls reached beyond the usual manufacturers in February as Fisher-Price recalled 44,000 Power Wheels Barbie Dream Campers, a battery operated unit equipped with a play kitchen, a fold out grill and pretend campfire. The recalled model number FRC29 is hot pink with blue accents, a grey foot pedal, and the Barbie logo printed on the back. The model number is printed on a label under the hood. The ride-on Power Wheels can continue to run after the foot pedal is released, posing an injury hazard. The units were sold exclusively at Walmart stores and at Walmart.com from July 2018 through January 2019. Consumers should immediately take the recalled Power Wheels away from children and contact Fisher-Price at 800-348-0751 for a free repair.
Forest River Recalls:
· Recall 44-0929: 92 2019 Salem and Wildwood recreational trailers in which the power cord hatch is located above the water heater exhaust, possibly resulting in the cord or the hatch melting. Dealers will secure the power cord away from the water heater exhaust, free of charge. Forest River customer service: 574-534-6127.
· Recall 51-0919: 142 2019 Rockport vehicles. The Federal Placard may indicate an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), which can allow the vehicle to be overloaded increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace it with a new corrected placard, free of charge. Forest River customer service: 574-522-7599.
· Recall 51-0923: 128 2019 Coachmen Apex, Spirit, Primetime Impression, and Tracer recreational trailers. The inner hub bearings may not have been sufficiently greased, which can cause the bearings to overheat and fail. Dealers will inspect and repair the hubs and bearings, as necessary, free of charge. Triple E Recreational Vehicle Recall CA#9208-1: 19 2019 Serenity recreational vehicles, model S24CB. The metal cable supporting the coach battery compartment door may contact the positive battery terminal. Dealers will replace the battery compartment door support cable with one covered with tubing, free of charge. Triple E customer service: 1-877-992-9906.
Daimler Vans USA Recall 2019010006: 4,358 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 vehicles. The steering shaft that connects to the steering gear may disconnect without warning. Daimler Vans is notifying owners, advising them to stop driving the vehicle immediately. Dealers will inspect the bolts connecting the steering shaft to the steering gear, fully tightening and/or adjusting them, as necessary, free of charge. Heartland Recreational Vehicles Recall 99.01.44: 78 Milestone recreational trailers, model 377MB. The liquid propane (LP) gas hose for the water heater may be improperly secured with a zip tie. If the zip tie fails, the hose may contact the tire. Dealers will secure the hose with a P-clamp and replace the LP hose if damage is found, free of charge. Keystone RV Recall 19-343: 152 2018-2019 Keystone Raptor recreational trailers. The quick disconnect rubber propane line to the outside grill may be incorrectly routed, allowing the grill to be stored while the fuel supply is still on and the flame is still lit. Dealers will replace the quick disconnect rubber propane line with a line that must be disconnected prior to storing the grill, free of charge. Keystone customer service: 1-866-425-4369.
Newmar Recall 18V-703: 308 2018-2019 Newmar Essex, Ventana LE, Ventana, London Aire, and Mountain Aire vehicles. The brake caliper mounting bolts may not have been sufficiently tightened. Daimler Trucks North America dealers will inspect and tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts, free of charge. Newmar customer service: 1-800-731-8300.

Chrysler Recalls:
· Recall V06: 573,876 2013-2017 Ram 3500 and 2014-2017 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab and Ram 2500 vehicles. The outboard steering linkage jam nut may loosen, allowing one end of the drag link to separate, causing a loss of steering control. Dealers will check the steering linkage jam nut tightness, replacing the drag link assembly or welding the nut to the adjuster sleeve, free of charge. · Recall V07: 193,813 2019 Ram 1500 vehicles equipped with adjustable pedals. The affected vehicles have a brake pedal that may move too far and separate from the pedal assembly, making it impossible for the driver to brake. Dealers will repair the adjustable pedal assembly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on March 27, 2019. Chrysler customer service: 1-800-853-1403.
Ford Motor Company Recall 19S07: 1,263,051 2011-2013 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The transmission may unexpectedly downshift into first gear, regardless of vehicle speed, causing loss of control. Dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module, free of charge.
