Towable Trailer Sales On The Rise

America's RV industry is once again on the upsurge, as shown by extensive research. According to the Recreation Industries Association, the first 10 months of 2017 saw a sharp upturn in sales of most types of RV's, although there was a slight dip in folding camper sales and RV park models. Focusing on towables or travel trailers, we see that year-over-year towable sales continued to grow for the first 11 months climb-ing 11.2% through November, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI). Results by category showed:
According to SSI, Thor Industries Inc. was the towable sales leader through November with 48.6% share of the market, ahead of Forest River Inc. owning a 36.2% share and Grand Design RV Co. (4.5%). By segment, Thor was No. 1 in travel trailers for the 11 months with a 48.8% market share, followed by Forest River with a 37.5% share. Thor led fifth-wheel sales with a 53.3% market share, followed by Forest River (28.5%) and Grand Design (11.3%). In folding camping trailer sales, Forest River led the category through November with a 70% market share, followed by Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (12.1%) and Thor (11.6%). Cavco Industries Inc. led the park model segment with a 21.2% market share, ahead of Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. (18.3%), Champion Home Builders (13.6%) and Skyline Corp. (12.4%).
