News From The Road:
RVer Rescued & Kickstarted After Bad Luck
The Press Reports On A Community That Deserves Recognition For Assisting A Nomad Of Sorts When Broken Down In His RV On The Side Of A Highway.
Whether fortunate or not, we all need help from our fellow community members from time to time when the universe doesn't want to agree with our wishes. One California community can be praised for all the generous actions done for one man, not to be named, stranded in his RV after the vehicle broke down on the side of the road in the midst of a Thanksgiving holiday trip. The RV appeared on Byron Highway and remained there lifeless for days. A woman named Pam Cambra-Sams, who works as a coordinator in numerous capacities with local shelters, police departments and Bully Police USA to help those in need in her community, saw a post on Facebook noting the stranded RV, and jumped into action.
According to The Press writer Aly Brown, Sams awoke early on Nov. 22 to find the vehicle on Byron Highway and knocked on its door. "When a man opened the door, I introduced myself and told him that I do community outreach,” Sams said. “I then asked a series of hard-hitting questions to figure out his need.” She eventually posted another Facebook post asking for help. She for donations of goods like food, pillows, blankets and gift cards, in which the response was positive and a handful of families stopped by his location to drop off supplies. She also reached out to her longtime friend and owner of Monkey Wrenches, Ted Curran, to see if he could help repair the man's vehicle and send him on his way. Later on after realizing they needed to tow the RV to an RV repair shop, Arrowhead Tow came out and towed the large vehicle, which normally would have costed $300/hr for that type of vehicle, free of charge. call it Thanksgiving sport, call it good faith in humanity, but the people that helped the man are models of behavior that more people should consider on a daily basis when someone obviously is in need. Sams even wanted to plan for the man to secure permanent parking for his RV later on down the road. Now that's one, or shall I I say several, good deeds!
