GoErie Reports On The 'Penn’s Parks For All' Survey That Will Help Inform The DCNR How Pennsylvania Parks Will Operate For Next 25 Years Or So
Since the July 4 weekend, DCNR has been surveying state residents about the future of its 121 park lands. Getting opinions from the people who use the parks and will have their children and great grand children utilize these parks is the most efficient way to improve public lands and make the park systems thrive. The survey could help researchers determine how to proceed in several areas, from whether camping options are adequate to whether the accommodations for pet owners suffice or need limiting.
GoErie writer Matthew Rink relates in his article: "Matt Greene, operations manager for Presque Isle State Park in Erie, PA, said he hopes responses help direct how the park handles traffic and parking congestion and prioritizes facility upgrades." Traffic and parking have “probably the biggest impact on the visitor experience right now,” Greene said. A few questions from the survey read: "Should DCNR change the current outdoor recreation opportunities or experiences? & How is visitor satisfaction with park services and facilities?"
