News Blip: Horsing Around Michigan
The Times Herald Reports On Michigan Teacher Kristen Humble Making A Yearly Trek Across The State on Horseback
Kristen Humble went on a state wide trip traveling on her horse one year and she loved it so much that she is now doing it annually after already completing five treks to date. The trips are organized by The Michigan Trail Riders Association throughout the year. She is a Marine City High School Spanish teacher and track and field coach, so the summer is one of the few times Humble can join in on the fun.
Times Herald writer Joseph Hayes relays what Kristen says about her preparation: "Just like with a track athlete, you have to prepare the horse ahead of time. Anyone thinking about doing it usually will have a warm up. They start small and local and do those rides for two or three months before you go into riding 25 miles a day." Each trip has challenges, but the fun and peaceful scenery continue to draw Humble back year after year. The journey is something Kristen looks forward to all year long. She says she is addicted to the feeling and she has to do it every year.
