News Blip: Forest River Inc Supplies Multiple Jobs
Journal Gazette Reports On One Of The Country's Largest RV Manufacturers, In Elkhart, Expanding Into New Territory & Creating Hundreds Of Jobs
According to The Journal Gazette out of Fort Wayne Indiana, Forest River Inc., which employs 11,000, expects to create up to 125 jobs by 2019 at its new Butler operation. The Elkhart-based company is now hiring for electricians, plumbers, framers, finish carpenters, quality control inspectors, metal hangers and cleaners. Officials said wages are expected to be above DeKalb County's average wage but no number was given.
Sherry Slater, writer for The Jornal Gazette, relays in her article: "Pay typically varies by position and by applicants' experience. The 20-acre Butler campus at 685 E. Main St. includes five production buildings and one office building, which will be renovated." Forest River will also construct a seventh building of almost 100,000 square feet. Company officials describe Forest River as βan incubator where innovative ideas thrive and flourish.β Indiana is a mecca for RV production. More than 80 % of the world's RVs are built in Indiana, reported Gov. Eric Holcomb. The RV industry will make roughly 472,000 RV shipments finishing off the 2017 year, the highest level in 40 years and a 10 percent increase over 2016. Projections call for 487,000 RVs to be shipped next year.
