Times Free Press Reports On Outdoor Leadership Club In Chattanooga That Is Encouraging Fun In The Outdoors For Minorities
The Howard School in Chattanooga has started an outdoor leadership club that gives their minority students the opportunity to get involved in the outdoors. Many times, minorities find themselves less involved with outdoor activities, not because of the lack of interest, but because of transportation or the cost of said activities. However, spending time outside has many positive benefits.
As Times Free Press writer David Cobb relates in his article: "I think, in many ways, offering students the opportunity to spend time outside could serve as a way to solve some of the problems associated with poverty," Hubbard-Heitz said. "It gives them a chance to breathe and shed some of the stress associated with poverty."
