BOSTIC, NC - A former Girl Scout camp in North Carolina is set to open as the newest Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort on August 1, 2018. The 550-acre property, which includes a lake, equestrian facilities, and hiking and mountain biking trails, is set in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains between Asheville and Charlotte. Northgate Resorts, which anticipates spending millions on the property’s renovation, is remodeling the existing camp structures, including the iconic “treetop” cabins for today’s campers.
“The park will initially be open for cabin and tent rentals, though we will have other camping options available, including glamping tents, later this year,” Zachary Bossenbroek, CEO of Northgate Resorts, said in a press release. “We’ll be adding RV sites for our 2019 camping season.” Activities available include canoeing, kayaking, swimming in the lake, wagon rides, outdoor movies, a jumping pillow/pad, pool with water slides, fishing, laser tag and scout-themed activities, as well as the popular Yogi Bear activities typical of all Jellystone parks. Six consecutive Halloween themed weekends begin Sept. 21. For a full list of activities and accommodations, visit the Camp Golden Valley website.
Northgate Resorts, based in Grand Rapid, MI, operates 12 campground properties across the nation. The campground in Golden Valley is the ninth Jellystone Park in its network. Other Northgate Jellystones can be found in Canyon Lake and Kerrville, TX; Hagerstown, MD; Quarryville, PA; Luray, VA; Gardiner, NY; Memphis, TN; and Lodi, CA.
