This upcoming week is dedicated to National Parks, which will host a variety of special programs and events. Each April, during the presidentially-proclaimed National Park Week, the National Park Service partners with the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America's national parks, to celebrate America's treasures. In addition, Google Earth will feature guided tours through 31 different US parks starting April 20, allowing users to virtually explore them.
Lonely Planet reports that one could explore the parks online using Google Earth, starting with the pink granite formations of Otter Cliff in Acadia National Park in Maine, and then head west to check out the ancient Pueblo dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado. To kick off National Park Week, all entrance fees are waived on Saturday, April 20! There are also special days during the week to highlight the different ways you can enjoy your national parks.
Get involved in National Park Week by visiting their social media, find an event, or take the Trivia Tuesday Challenge.
