SEATTLE, Wash. â The 2019 series of tents and shelters produced by Seattle-based Mountain Safety Research (MSR) will feature more resilient poles, long-lasting weatherproof protection, improved sun protection, and reduced weight, according to a company press release. Revolutionary technology used in production includes Easton® Syclone⢠Poles, described as “virtually indestructible,” and MSR’s ultra-durable Xtreme Shield⢠waterproof coating, said to last up to 3x longer than standard coatings.
Easton Syclone Poles, available exclusively in the MSR Hubba, FreeLite, Carbon Reflex, and All-Season tent series, are built of lightweight, aerospace-grade composite material, making them the most resilient backpacking tent poles ever made. In 2019, select MSR tents and sun shields will also employ the new Xtreme Shield waterproofing and upgraded sun protection with a UPF of 50+. “With these revolutionary advances, MSR tents deliver unmatched durability and longer-lasting weather protection while keeping our customers’ packs impressively light,” Terry Breaux, tents and shelter category manager at MSR, said.
