News Release:
Colt Creek State Park Opens New Accessible Campground
Florida Dept. Of Environmental Protection Reports On The Grand Opening Of New Campground Facilities At Colt Creek State Park That Include RV Accessible Sites.
On March 14, 2018, the Florida Park Service and Polk County officials cut the ribbon opening a new campground in Colt Creek State Park near Lakeland. The new facilities include 28 campsites with full 30 and 50 amp hookups and can accommodate rigs up to 70 feet. Campsites 2 and 6 are fully accessible with a level concrete pad and are connected to the bathhouse by concrete walkway. Six newly developed tent-only sites include two with mobility features. The state park camping grounds include a dump station near the entrance and an accessible bathhouse. Previously the Central Florida park, which encompasses 5,067 acres, offered only primitive camping, including an equestrian campground with room for horse trailers.
The Park Service and the Friends of Colt Creek broke ground on the new campground in July, 2017. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance online through Reserve America or by calling (800) 326-3521.
