News Blip:
California State Parks Begin Charging Fees to Dump
California Department of Parks & Recreation Reports On Most California State Parks Beginning To Use Sani-Star, A Provider Of Self-Pay Dump Stations, For Security Reasons And Collecting A Fee.

Beginning April 1, 2018, most California State Parks will begin charging a $10 fee for use of the park’s dump station. Sani-Star, a provider of self-pay stations for sewage dumps, is partnering with the state to secure the dump stations and collect fees for use. The new system will allow State Parks to control the sanitary dump station and prevent illegal use, in order to better protect the environment. Fees will cover the rising costs from sanitary and water districts and offset maintenance fees. The park authority hopes the pay per use system will allow them to continue offering low camping fees without assessing a dump fee from to all campers.
Only those using the free-standing dump facilities will be affected. Campers at designated sewage hook-up campsites have already paid the sewage hook-up fee with their campsite rental. Sani-Star will accept credit and debit card payments right at the dump station. For more information on how this affects specific state parks, visit Parks.ca.gov.
