Should Your Campground Accommodate EV Charging?
Editor's Note: This news item was retrieved and first published through Woodall's Campground Management's website.
Woodall's reports on the question of adding vehicle charge stations to campgrounds for electric vehicles (EVs). According to Wade Elliott, owner of Washington-based Utility Supply Group, this can be a big opportunity for businesses. EVs are relatively new to the automobile world and they are still a bit of a novelty to the RV and campground industry. For those considering, it's a unique offering at campgrounds as of today, and you will be showing you are a green business and appealing to an increasingly important younger customer. Millennial and Gen X members are an increasingly larger share of RV buyers.
According to an article on Woodall's written by Wade Elliott, the three most common questions we hear from many campground owners are: 1. What equipment is needed to charge an EV? 2. What do I charge the customer? 3. Am I selling electricity? My state, Washington, doesn’t allow that. Wade Elliott urges owners to get ahead of the game and set up a separate EV charger and charge a flat rate to charge a travelers EV. They can advertise as an amenity and be the first in the area to provide this additional service.
