RV Dealers Upbeat At Fort Wayne RV And Camping Show
Editor's Note: This news item was retrieved and first published through Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly's website.
The Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly reports that optimism was high among RV dealers who displayed at the recently concluded 59th annual Fort Wayne RV and Camping Show, despite RV shipments in 2018 falling 4 percent from the previous year. The industry experienced a 17 percent sales surge in 2017, breaking the 500,000 shipments mark for the first time.
Richard Curtin, a professor at the University of Michigan’s Survey Research Center and RV industry analyst, projects its 2019 shipments will once again exceed the 2016 level, with around 453,200 units sold, the third best year for sales in RV history. Curtin attributes the sales level to increased income, employment and household wealth. The RV industry has experienced steady growth since the end of the recession in 2009 when only 165,700 units were shipped.
Curtin’s complete industry forecast can be found on the RVIA website.
