Rock Creek Park will be closing several roads over the next couple of months, as efforts to control the deer population begin. Park Service officials said the white-tailed deer are overabundant in the park and have damaged some native plants and trees. Officials have said that without management of the deer population, they would eat tree seedlings and other plants before they could grow. ABC7 News staff relay in their article "Rock Creek Park announced Monday, its deer management window of operations will begin Nov. 20, 2019, through March 31, 2020." Piney Branch Parkway and Broad Branch Road will remain open during this time. Road closure would be temporary and would take place from 5 p.m to 4 a.m. Roads affected include part of Beach and Sherrill drives NW, along with Wise, Ridge and Glover roads NW.
