Rapido Buys Roadtrek Brand

TORONTO, Canada - Rapido Group has signed a binding letter of intent to acquire all of the assets related to the Roadtrek RV brand, a division of Erwin Hymer Group North America Inc., currently in receivership. Rapido plans to assume the lease of one of the existing manufacturing and assembly facilities, and resume production of the popular Class B vans in the near future, according to a press release.
A French company founded in 1961, Rapido has utilized a brand creation/acquisition strategy to become one of the biggest recreational vehicle groups in Europe. The 100% family-owned company, now based in Mayenne, France, employs approximately 1,500 employees at plants in France, Germany, Italy and Great Britain. Rapido is the current owner of the Westfalia brand, a popular travel van in North America during the 1960s and ‘70s.
