Partnership Formed Between RV Rental Companies
Crain's Clev. Business Reports On RVshare Venturing Into Business In Canada With The Help of Ottawa-based RVezy
RVshare, a company founded last year, offers an AirBnB-type website for RV rentals. The concept of RVs for rent sprouted when RVshare co-founder Mark Jenney bought an RV to travel the country as part of his honeymoon. Afterward, he realized he had no use for the vehicle and longed for a way to make money off the investment. Co-founder Joel Clark offered Jenney to build a rudimentary template. It immediately started getting hits. In order to tackle the Canadian market, just north from where they are based in Akron, RVshare has teamed up with RVezy — a peer-to-peer RV rental platform in Ottawa. The relationship is simply a partnership, not a merger or acquisition, according to a company spokesperson.
Writer for Crain's Cleveland Business Timothy Magaw spoke with RVshare CEO Joel Clark and reiterates: "We knew there was no way we could responsibly launch in Canada without a dedicated team and bilingual customer support," said Clark in a news release. "After doing our due diligence on the Canadian RV rental market and taking the time to really understand what the Canadian customer wants when it comes to motorhome rentals, it felt like it would be disrespectful to launch there without a dedicated Canadian team." Through the partnership, RVshare gains a dedicated Canadian partner and bilingual support. Most importantly, their rentals across Canada are fully insured through RVezy's network. Since launching in 2016, RVezy pioneered a first in Canadian insurance with a policy covering private motorhome rentals that originate in the provinces of Ontario, Alberta and Quebec and trailers across Canada, according to the release. RVshare, which employs more than 50 full-timers, is said to fuel U.S. rentals for the RVezy platform, making it easier for Canadians to rent an RV in the U.S.
