Vermont Business Magazine Reports On Executive Order Issued By Governor Scott Establishing VOREC To Expand Vermont’s Outdoor Recreation Economy
As a recent order of business, Governor Phil Scott signs Recreation Executive Order in Waterbury on June 15th. The order is planned to set up a task force to strengthen and expand Vermont’s outdoor economy. Vermont tourism is partly driven by the landscapes, forests and outdoor activities available in the state. The governor of Vermont believes it's important to upkeep the outdoor recreation business in order to maintain and build the economy with respect to the industry.
Vermont Business Magazine writer speaks with Governor Scott and quotes in article: "These assets must be wisely managed and strengthened, not only so we can grow the economic development potential of this sector, but also to sustain and enhance the value of the Vermont brand, the experience of visitors to Vermont, and Vermonters’ quality of life.” Many jobs in Vermont, particularly 34K, constitute the outdoor recreation sector and spending from the industry is totaling $2.5 billion.
